It’s been a head-spinning, mind-boggling, worry-filled couple of months. Since mid-January in Northeast Georgia, we’ve moved from torrential rainstorms and flooding to freak snowstorms to a pandemic. To use a word we’ve all heard a lot lately, it’s “unprecedented.”
Given all that’s been happening, it’s little wonder that spring sprang and we hardly noticed.
At 11:50 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, the Northern Hemisphere entered the spring equinox. It’s the earliest spring in over a century. One might call it “unprecedented” (at least in our lifetime). “The last time spring arrived this early was in 1896—a whopping 124 years ago!” according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.
While these never-before-seen events continue to swirl around us, we encourage you to take a moment to just breathe. Step out of wherever it is you are sheltering. Feel the sun, or the rain, pouring down. Open your eyes to the true force of nature that surrounds you – spring’s beauty.
