Splashin’ and cruisin’ in Clarkesville

The Summer heat is upon us and Clarkesville’s Friday Night Live has just the theme to cool you down: Downtown Splashdown!

On June 17th  from 6 -8 PM, the community is invited to the gazebo lawn to cool off in the fire hydrant sprinkler, take a trip down the Roarin’ Rainforest waterslide or bounce in the “Wet House.”  The Clarkesville Fire Department will be serving hot dogs and snow cones, and other concessions will also be available.

In addition to the water fun, a Classic Cruise-In will take place in the lower lot of the old courthouse.  Classic car enthusiasts are invited to bring and display their automobiles and motorcycles-  all makes and models encouraged.  Prizes will be awarded for Best in Show and People’s Choice.   There is no fee to enter, and registration begins at 5pm.  Final judging will take place at 8pm, when the event concludes.  Cruise In low

Whereas a lot of the activity will take place from the gazebo lawn and old courthouse parking lot, some of the eateries are offering specials at their establishments, and several merchants are extending their store hours for the evening.

The event, presented by Clarkesville Main Street, is focused on Clarkesville’s historic downtown and encourages participants to dine at downtown restaurants and shop in downtown retail establishments as part of their evening’s activities.

The event is from 6-8PM in the downtown square. The water activities are FREE and open to the public. Prices may vary for concessions.  More information can be found on the City Facebook page- (find City of Clarkesville on Facebook) or visit www.clarkesvilllega.com.
