Speed limit change on part of I-985

(GDOT)

Drivers beware. There’s a speed limit change coming to I-985.

The Georgia Department of Transportation says beginning on Monday, March 19, the speed limit on the I-985 corridor will be lowered from 70 to 60 miles per hour between Spout Springs Road (Exit 12) and State Route 53 (Exit 17).

That’s about a 5.6 mile stretch of road that runs from Flowery Branch to Oakwood in Hall County. Georgia DOT is building an interchange there. The agency issued a news release saying the speed limit is being changed “to increase safety to the work zone as there will be workers in close proximity to the roadway.”

The lowered speed limit will remain in place until the project is completed in August 2019.
