Special election set for Habersham County school board seat

District 4 vacancy to be filled on November 5th

A special election is set for Tuesday, November 5, to fill the unexpired term of District 4 Habersham County Board of Education member Kristie Dover, who resigned.

The winner will serve out the remainder of Dover’s term, which ends on December 31, 2026.

The qualifying period for the special election is August 5 through August 9, according to the Habersham County Elections Office. Candidates may file between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday of that week.

The qualifying fee is $162.00.

Eligible candidates may qualify at the Habersham County Elections & Voter Registration Office at 403 Habersham County Shopping Center, Cornelia, GA 30531.

The deadline to register to vote in the special election is October 7, 2024.
