South Hart Elementary School will be closed for all students and staff on Thursday, May 15, due to an unexpected break in a 4-inch main water line, school officials announced today.
The water line rupture occurred earlier in the day, and although repair crews were dispatched quickly, necessary parts will not be available until Thursday morning. Officials determined that the issue could not be resolved in time to safely reopen the building, prompting the full-day closure.
School leaders will assess the situation on Thursday and make a determination regarding operations for Friday, May 16. An update will be shared with families and staff by tomorrow afternoon. At this time, officials are optimistic that normal school operations will resume on Friday.
Additionally, the school confirmed that 2nd and 4th grade field trips scheduled for Thursday have been canceled. Students who already paid for these trips will receive a credit that can be applied to a future field trip or activity during the next school year.
