A man from South Carolina wanted for murder was arrested in Gainesville Thursday, Feb. 13, according to the Gainesville Police Department.
As William Barney Drummond, 43, was taken into custody, authorities allegedly discovered a firearm, additional weapons, narcotics and counterfeit cash on his person.
Police suspected that Drummond had fled to Gainesville following the murder and tracked him down Thursday afternoon along Queen City Parkway, where he was walking along the roadway.
Drummond is currently held at the Hall County Jail as he awaits extradition to South Carolina to face murder charges.
The arrest followed a collaborative effort between Gainesville Police, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and Oconee County authorities in South Carolina.
The investigation remains ongoing.
