Softball state round one results

Round one of the state softball playoffs is in the books! Several Northeast Georgia teams advanced in the playoffs, including Jefferson, Banks County, White County, Union and Stephens counties.

CLASS 3A

#17 Jefferson 2, #16 Lumpkin County 1
Jefferson took the opening game by a 9-6 score, scoring 5 in the fifth and holding on at the end. Lumpkin in game two had a thrilling 8-7 win to force a decisive Game 3. Addison Self pitched an absolute gym, and the offense backed her to an 11-1 win to clinch the series.

#20 White County 2, #13 Cairo 0
The Lady Warriors grabbed a 12-2 first game to take control, then won the clincher 5-4 to advance to the Sweet 16!

#11 Pickens 2, #22 Dawson County 1
Dawson County lost 9-1, but also had a 7-3 win to force a Game 3, which was played Saturday. Pickens scored 8 runs to win the series.

CLASS 2A

#13 Stephens County 2, #20 Hart County 0
The Lady Indians edged out Hart County 7-6 in the opener, then put the pedal to the metal in a 16-0 thrashing to clinch the series and move on.

#22 Union County 2, #11 Shaw 0
The Lady Panthers won 9-0 in the opener in what was a dominant showing, then followed it up with an 8-3 win to staple a Sweet 16 appearance!

CLASS 1A DI

#5 Banks County 2, #28 Commerce 0
A 6-0 game to open up gave Banks County no pressure in the second. The Lady Leopards won 14-3 to advance to the Sweet 16, while Commerce’s season ends.

CLASS 1A DII

#1 Lanier County 2, #4 Towns County 0
Lanier County won 16-0 and 12-0 in a 2-game sweep of Towns, ending the Lady Indians’ season.
