The Banks County Lady Leopards are at it again, making it now back-to-back trips to the 2A Quarterfinals with a two-game sweep Wednesday night at Rockmart.
The Lady Leopards (26-8) broke a 4-4 tie in game one with a two-run seventh to win 6-4. In the second game, Rockmart led 5-1 in the fourth inning before Banks County began an epic comeback. Going into the top of the sixth, the visitors had closed the gap to 6-4.
Banks County scored three unanswered to win in thrilling fashion, 7-4, advancing to Columbus for the Elite 8 round.
Dragons advance after defeating Ringgold
The Jefferson Lady Dragons are on to the Elite 8 in Columbus following a sweep Wednesday over Ringgold.
Jefferson (27-6) edged Ringgold 3-2 in the Sweet 16 opener behind Emily Perrin’s beautiful performance in the circle in which she sent down 14 on strikes and allowed only two hits.
The Lady Dragons then drummed Ringgold 11-0 in five innings to notch the second quarterfinals trip in the last three years.
