Smith’s Soda Shop was established in 1947 by Lee Smith and was located on the square in Cleveland. In 1970, he had a new building constructed at the current location on Highway 129 North.

Following Lee Smith’s death in 1976, his son Ronnie assumed ownership and has operated the business since then.

Cleveland Mayor Josh Turner read a proclamation that was approved by the council honoring Smith’s Soda Shop’s 75th anniversary.

Ronnie Smith told WRWH Radio he and his wife enjoy interacting with the customers. They especially like hearing from customers.

“We have people come in all the time and say how good the food is and stuff like that,” Ronnie says. “Some of them [have] never been there before.” He adds, “It’s interesting to hear ‘this is good. That’s  why we are there.”
