Skeletal remains in Banks County identified

A mystery that started last year is partially solved today. The GBI have identified human remains found behind the Dandelion Inn in Banks Crossing back in February of 2014

“The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified skeletal remains as those of Terry Lee Holbrooks of Fairplay-Westminster, South Carolina area,” Banks Sheriff Carlton Speed said in a press release. “In a joint effort, the Banks County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI are still investigating Holbrooks’ cause of death.”

The investigation began after three folks who were staying at the hotel found bones in a nearby creek. They notified the Sheriff’s Office, who called in the GBI.  A search of the creek and the land surrounding it took place over the next two days.  GBI agents and Banks County Sheriff’s deputies located more human, skeletal remains as well as other items.

The Banks County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI request that anyone with any information regarding Holbrooks’ death contact the Banks County Sheriff’s Office or the GBI Tip Line, (800) 597-8477.
