Six local high school military recruits prepare for boot camp

On May 22, 430 members of Habersham Central’s Class of 2020 will officially close the book on their high school careers. Most of them will walk across the stage at Raider Stadium on July 31st to accept their diplomas as long as there are no schedule changes due to COVID-19. But for six members of this year’s graduating class, that is not an option. They’re joining the military and will soon be heading to boot camp.

HCHS principal Jonathan Stribling recognized the graduating recruits during a virtual school board meeting on May 11. Now Habersham also would like to take this opportunity to recognize them. The young woman and men pictured here will soon carry the honor and weight of military service on their shoulders. They have chosen a proud profession marked by challenge and change that demands both service and sacrifice. We pray for them and their families and deeply appreciate their commitment to our country.
