Six Truett McConnell student-athletes, four women’s soccer players, one men’s soccer player and a volleyball player, have been named 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes as announced by the NAIA national office December 2.
Caylin Carter, Katey Griggs, Holly Peppers and Victoria Schillinger were named to the women’s soccer list. The four were joined by 574 other individuals nationwide.
On the men’s soccer list, graduate student James Serpas was awarded the honor, joining 422 student-athletes across America. Volleyball junior Morgan Harris earned the honor as well, joining 480 other students on the list.
In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status. The six TMU student-athletes join four cross country runners from this academic year to be named Scholar-Athletes, making 10 total Bears recognized.
