Brother and sister duo Daniel and Ashley Hill are more than family, they’re champions. The Hills, from Rabun County, took top honors recently at the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.

Daniel and Ashely competed in the Financial Services category, beating out 90 contestants from across the country.

“Competing at nationals was a huge honor for me,” says Daniel Hill. “It’s a chance to not only represent NGTC, but to be able to say you’ve competed against some of the most prestigious colleges in America. As far as being national champions, all I can say is that my sister (Ashley) and I are very fortunate. We are beyond blessed and I couldn’t have done it without her.”

The Hills attend North Georgia Technical College. They attended the national conference along with other PBL members from the college’s Clarkesville and Blairsville campuses.

Other students competing were Susie Berry of Cleveland, Rachael Waldrep of Blairsville, Heather Wells of Copperhill, Tenn., Nicole May of Blairsville, Melissa Klopschinski of Blairsville, Sherri Karr of Ellijay, Kaycee Walden of McDonough, Zack Gilliam of Blairsville and Ty Hinson of Mineral Bluff.

Ty Hinson and Zachary Gilliam placed ninth in Management Analysis and Decision Making, competing against both technical colleges and universities.

The Parliamentary Procedure Clarkesville team placed eighth and was comprised of members Ashley Hill, Susie Berry, Daniel Hill and Kaycee Walden. The NGTC Blairsville team was ninth and included Sherri Karr, Melissa Klopschinski, Nicole May, Rachael Waldrep and Heather Wells.
