Severely short-handed, the #8-ranked Lady Indians gave it everything they had with only 12 players, securing a 4-3 overtime win at Elbert County on Thursday.
LB Kafsky notched her first career hat trick, racking up assists by Sarah Lundy, Tessa Foor, and Maddie LeBlanc. The third of those came in overtime, as the girls held on for the win. Kafsky’s first two goals came in the first half, and LeBlanc scored from a corner kick rebound in the second half.
“We had a lot of absences this game – we had 12 girls and all 12 significantly contributed,” says coach Erin Jimenez. “These girls played with their hearts and souls and then some. They collapsed after the buzzer went off. They played the entire game and fought the entire time.”
Kyndal Anderson, Millie Holcomb, Josie Chesser, Maddie LeBlanc, Haylen McGugan, Avery Keim, Sarah Lundy, Narissa Dawson, Adelaide Tatum, Lily Desta, and LB Kafsky made up the full available roster.
“These girls made their school, teammates, and fans proud today to kick off their spring break,” adds Jimenez.
The Lady Indians are now 9-3 overall and 8-1 in region play.
