For the first time in nearly two decades, the city of Cleveland has a new police chief. Jeff Shoemaker was sworn into the job Monday night.

Shoemaker is a 30-year law enforcement veteran. He was a Captain with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office when he was hired for the job in Cleveland.

A 2020 graduate of Liberty University, Chief Shoemaker holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a minor in Homeland Security. He succeeds longtime Cleveland Police Chief John Foster who retired in December after 23 years with the department.
