Hall County deputies arrested a Gainesville teenager over the weekend for allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl.
17-year-old Lonny Reid Chapman was taken into custody in the area of Ga. 60/Thompson Bridge Road and Club Point Way. A day earlier, investigators obtained arrest warrants for him. Authorities charged Chapman with one count of aggravated sodomy and seven counts of aggravated child molestation.
According to the preliminary investigation, between late November and January 31 of this year, Chapman allegedly assaulted a girl under the age of 16. The alleged crimes happened at Chapman’s residence on Old Howser Mill Road. Authorities say he knew the victim.
Deputies say they first learned of the allegations on February 2, 2021, when the victim disclosed what happened to her family.
Chapman remained in the Hall County Jail early Monday afternoon. The sheriff’s office is still investigating.
