Habersham drivers, beware. Sheriff Joey Terrell says a there’s a man driving around in a “black Dodge Charger attempting to pull people over by flashing the car’s headlights.”
In a public notice posted to Facebook, Terrell describes the subject as a white male in his mid to late 50s with salt and pepper hair and a gray or white goatee.
“All of my deputies vehicles have blue lights even if the cars are not marked,” the sheriff’s post says. “The black Dodge that is attempting to do this is not marked.”
Terrell urges drivers to use caution and not hesitate to call 911 if they’re uneasy about someone attempting to pull them over.
“If someone is flashing their lights at you trying to get you to pull over, please don’t. Turn your emergency flashers on and call 911 if you feel that something is not right about the situation. Keep the 911 dispatcher informed on your location,” he says. “Even if the car has blue lights, you are free to call 911 and ask if the vehicle behind you is indeed an officer.”
The sheriff reminds you it is legal for you to make emergency calls from your cellphone while driving.
