An Alto man has been cited in connection with a head-on collision in Clarkesville that sent him and two others to the hospital. It happened Saturday in the rain around 11am near Church Saw Mill Road.

Trooper 1st Class John Crawford say 27-year old Marshall Burns was traveling north on Historic Highway 441 when his Caravan hydroplaned in a curve. The van crossed the center line and struck a Silverado pickup truck in the southbound lane head-on.

The driver of the truck, 34-year old ThomasAuston Parkey of Toccoa, suffered a serious leg injury. He was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment. Crawford says Parkey’s 1-year old daughter was restrained in a child safety seat in the right front passenger side of the truck. She suffered a cut on her forehead and was taken to Habersham Medical Center.

Burns was also transported to HMC with complaints of a shoulder injury. He was cited for slick tires and failure to maintain lane.

A portion of Hwy. 441 near the scene of the accident was closed for nearly three hours.
