Dr. Robert Barron, Chair of the Habersham Board of Education presents the Service Above Self Award to Tamara Doran at its monthly meeting on June 8.

Tamara Doran works as a paraprofessional for two Speech Pathologists, an Occupational Therapist, and a Physical Therapist at Level Grove Elementary School in her daily work. In addition, she is “one of the main reasons for the success of the Preschool Readiness Enrichment Program in Habersham,” her nominators for the Service Above Self Award agree.

Doran was given the award after being nominated by Jill Maxwell and Diane Lent, who said that she “does an outstanding job in keeping files organized and complete” so that the referral process will run smoothly from start to finish. She even developed a spreadsheet to track the progress of students referred through the Child Find process. Often, she takes files home to make contacts with parents to schedule screening, evaluations, and staffings. Maxwell and Lent said that “with Tamara’s help, our PREP team was able to screen and evaluate close to 100 children this school year.” That could not have been accomplished without “her hard work and dedication to her job each and every day,” they agreed. In addition, “parents, children, and staff love Tamara,” they said,
