Though internet access is increasingly necessary for everyday tasks, many adults do not own a personal computer. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock announced Friday that he has secured over $22 million for Georgia to address the issue of unequal access to technology.

Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and John Ossoff will bring over $22 million dollars to help Georgians secure access to technology. The funds will go towards expanding digital literacy programs and community access to technology as well as lowering internet costs for consumers.

The money was secured by Senator Reverend Warnock’s Device Access for Every American Act, which was included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

According to Senator Reverend Warnock’s office, 4.4 million households with students lack access to reliable internet, which effects these students’ abilities to attend online class and complete homework.
