The driver of an 18-wheeler that wound up on its side in a ditch Friday near Clarkesville has been charged in connection with the wreck.
Walter Burris was driving west on Hills Crossing Road when the accident happened. He ran off the road in a curve and struck a ditch, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
The rig overturned on the passenger’s side. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The accident happened around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Historic US 441 and New Liberty Road. The wreck temporarily tied up traffic in the area. It took more than an hour to upright the truck and remove it.
