“Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:6
“Seek His will…” – Listen.
We tend to ask for God’s will, but when it comes to listening for God’s will, we walk around with our fingers in our ears, singing “La,la,la,la,la.” God’s will doesn’t necessary mean our own ideas, even though we’d like for it to be “our plan.”
“…in all you do…” – Everything
If we can’t look to Him for the smallest things, how can He count on us in the large things. My grandmother used to describe it as, no one gives a toddler the good china at holiday dinners because the reality is, the toddler can’t handle the fine china. For a child, plastic plates are best because they can’t be broken. Once the child learns to manage the plastic plate, they advance to the finer things.
“…and He will…” – Ask
God doesn’t force Himself on anyone. He is waiting for us to ask Him for help, direction, guidance, and answers.
“…show you…” – Look
God is clear. He doesn’t play riddles or puzzles. He isn’t trying to stump us. He wants to show us the way – His way.
“…which path to take.” – Direction
He has already navigated the course; but, if we aren’t listening, He can’t tell us. If we aren’t giving Him the control in ALL aspects of our lives, He won’t take control. If we aren’t asking and inviting Him into our hearts, He won’t come in. If we aren’t looking for clarity, we will miss His best for us. If we aren’t willing to walk on the path, we will be lost.
