East Louise Street reopens after water main break repair

Extreme fog. Please avoid area to protect workers.

East Louise Street in Clarkesville is back open after crews shut down a section of it Thursday to repair a broken water line.

The water department began working on the repair around 11 p.m. Tuesday. “This was a leak that they had been searching for for quite some time,” Clarkesville City Manager Keith Dickerson says.

Their efforts were hampered early Wednesday by heavy fog, which dropped visibility to dangerously low levels.

Water service has been restored. The water department issued a boil water advisory for affected customers.
