Hall County shooting suspect in custody

A man wanted for allegedly shooting and seriously wounding his brother Monday night in Hall County is now in custody. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Joseph Omar Mendoza’s arrest Tuesday afternoon. Officials have not yet said how or where he was arrested.

The 30-year-old Mendoza reportedly shot his 29-year-old brother Luis Antonio Mendoza in the abdomen. The shooting happened around 9 p.m. on October 17 in the parking lot of Don Mangum Grocery on Harmony Church Road.

After the shooting, Joseph Mendoza fled the scene in a late-model silver Nissan Rogue, according to witnesses. Investigators obtained arrest warrants on him for criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm.

Investigators issued a public lookout for Joseph Mendoza Tuesday morning warning he was armed and dangerous. They urged anyone who saw him to call 911.
