(Cleveland)- The 17-year-old suspect wanted in connection with a kidnapping in Cleveland on Sunday was arrested Tuesday morning.
Trevor Rankin allegedly kidnapped a 17-year-old female victim who police said he had dated. It happened around 9:00 p.m. Sunday with Rankin allegedly driving into Hall County and stopping at a gas station at Nopone Road. That’s when the victim, with help from a citizen at the station, escaped.
Rankin then allegedly fled the scene on foot, abandoning the vehicle that was reported stolen in Blairsville.
According to a news release from Hall County Sheriff’s Lt. Chris Dale, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Texaco around 11:00 p.m., set up a perimeter in the area and tried to track Rankin down with a K-9 team.
“The Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit provided additional assistance. After approximately 2 hours, the suspect was not located and the search for the identified offender was called off,” the release stated. “The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a related altercation with the same victim that allegedly occurred in the area before the suspect fled.”
Cleveland Police John Foster said White County deputies arrested Rankin in the city of Cleveland. Rankin was being held in the White County Jail Tuesday afternoon on a kidnapping charge.
