A mother and children who went missing six days ago have been safely located in Banks County. The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office says Brittany Stewart and her three sons were found at the Walmart Supercenter in Banks Crossing around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.
The family was found after the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office received new information in reference to the case.
“Rabun County Sheriff’s Office investigators acted quickly on the information, which led them to track her possible location to Wal-Mart Supercenter in Banks Crossing,” a press release from Rabun County Sheriff Chad Nichols states. “The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance from the Banks County Sheriff’s Office to go check that location and the family was safely located.”
The 28-year old mother and her three boys – ages 7 months to 7 years – were the focus of an intense search ever since they were last seen around 7 p.m. on March 23.
At one point while they were was missing, Stewart phoned her family from an unknown location. A convenience store clerk also reported seeing the missing family at a gas station in Hollywood, Georgia.
No other details about the family’s disappearance have been released.
Sheriff Nichols says the Banks County Sheriff’s Office turned the investigation over to the proper authorities.
