Authorities continue to search for an armed robbery suspect who held up a local loan company.
It happened at Citizens Finance of Cornelia off the 441 Bypass Thursday night. Baldwin Police Chief Chad Nichols says police were called to the scene at 7:27 p.m. on September 18. Upon arriving officers found a female employee unharmed inside the business. She told police the suspect had a revolver and that he fled on foot. He reportedly got away with approximately $2,000 in cash.
The employee described the suspect as a white male around six feet tall with long hair pulled back into a ponytail. He was wearing a black shirt, had light colored eyes and sported a dragon tattoo on his left forearm with a smaller tattoo below that. Police say the suspect may possibly have tattoos on his neck as well.
Chief Nichols says no surveillance tape is available because the suspect took the DVR that records security cameras.
Officers with the Cornelia Police Department, the Alto Police Department, and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office responded with Baldwin Police and provided backup and assistance in searching the area for the suspect. The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division processed the scene and is assisting in the investigation.
