On March 4, the Sautee Nacoochee Center will host its annual Empty Bowls fundraising lunch. The event includes a hot meal provided by some of the area’s best-known restaurants.
The lunch will be held Monday, March 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Sautee Nacoochee Center’s Community Hall. Donations, by either cash or check, support the work of the White County Food Pantry.
Soup, cornbread and other items for the meal are given by Bigg Daddy’s Restaurant & Tavern, Clyde’s Table & Tavern, Elohee Retreat Center, Fenders Diner, Ingles Market, Jumpin’ Goat Coffee Roasters, Mully’s Nacoochee Grill, Nora Mill Granary, North Georgia Barbecue, the Old Sautee Store & Market, Rib Country, Unicoi Preserves and Sheilah Welsch.
Donations will go toward providing food and other essential resources to those in need in White County and surrounding areas. The White County Food Pantry works tirelessly to ensure that everyone has access to nutritious food, regardless of their circumstances.
Last year’s event raised over $3,200.
In memory of longtime organizer
This year’s event is being held in memory of Nancy Duggan, who passed away in December. Duggan organized the event for several years. She was a talented clay artist and encouraged other potters to create and donate the bowls used for this special fundraiser.
Ahead of the luncheon, on Feb. 23, the Sautee Nacoochee Center will hold an Empty Bowls Cozies Workshop. Participants will create microwavable cozies that will be sold at the March 4 event.
“This is a great way to continue the fundraising effort and support the White County Food Pantry,” says SNC Marketing and Development Coordinator Jennie Inglis.
To reserve a spot in the workshop, call Jim Thomas at 706-878-3300.
More ways to donate
Those attending Empty Bowls are asked to consider donating other items needed by the food pantry, such as soap, deodorant, toilet paper, toothpaste and brushes, and laundry detergent.
Those unable to donate on-site may still donate items needed by the food pantry at the Sautee Nacoochee Center located at 283 Hwy 255 North in Sautee.
