Satterfield attends last Baldwin council meeting

Baldwin Council member Joseph Satterfield attended his last meeting as a Baldwin council member on Monday, July 29, completing seven months.

At the end of the meeting Satterfield thanked everyone. Mayor Stephanie Almagno told him, “We want to thank you for your service and hope for you all the best.” She added that she appreciated anyone that put their name out there to run for office. It was more than just sitting at the bench.

He announced his resignation during the council’s work session on June 4 after serving six months on the council. Satterfield’s resignation came after he got married in May. He and his wife have decided to live in the Asheville, NC area. His resignation has resulted in a special election for the Post 2 seat on the Baldwin City Council for Tuesday, November 5.

The Habersham Elections and Voter Registration Office has announced the call for the special election for the Post 2 seat. Qualifying for the seat will begin Monday, August 5 and continue through Friday, August 9. Those wishing to run for the Post 2 seat may qualify on those dates from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Friday qualifying hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Qualifying will be held at the Habersham Elections and Voter Registration Office at 403 Habersham County Shopping Center, Cornelia, Georgia 30531. The registration fee for the Baldwin Post 2 seat will be $35.
