Samuel H Robinson “Sam” got his promotion on Sunday, July 3, 2022, surrounded by his family and carried in song.
Married to his Soulmate, Joyce Ragan Robinson for 57 years, their long marriage is a testament to God’s grace in action, enduring spirit of compromise, and adventure.
Adventures he had. As his nephews, Gil Robinson and Jimmy Allison would tell you, he was the ringleader of any mischief growing up in Atlanta and Sautee, Georgia.
Sam was the youngest child of Rev. Charlie A. and Lonnie Bell (Abernathy) Robinson, born in Barrow County on February 10, 1944. Spending his school years at Nacoochee School in White County, Sam was drafted into the United States Navy during Vietnam as a Seabee. He was injured in battle and awarded the purple heart.
He returned home to his bride of three years and new baby having spent over half of that time away in battle.
Sam was a Building Contractor by trade employing and influencing many young men along the way.
His love for Joyce, his Girls, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and his extended family was evident in everything he did.
Sam’s greatest love, however, was for his Heavenly Father. He would ask anyone who would listen if they knew his Jesus? Many opportunities afforded this over the years. His girls will tell you they felt the love of their Heavenly Father due to the love of their Earthly Father!
Sam was a Deacon at Union Baptist where he was raised but served most of his adulthood as a song leader and Sunday school teacher also. He and Joyce were snowbirds for over twenty years to Lake Okeechobee. They loved their Big O family. He was instrumental in starting Sunday Service in the campground, that first day with seven that grew over the years and seasons.
Sam would tell you his greatest joy was time with Joyce and his family. Many camping trips, vacations or just having the Grands and Great Grands on “The Hill!”
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings John Robinson, Herbert Robinson, Willard Robinson, Louise R. Allison, Harold (Dude) Robinson, Evelyn R. Freeman, Julie R. Bodiford and Charles Robinson. In-laws Rev. Harry and Ethel Ragan.
Survivors include his Bride of 57 years Joyce Ragan Robinson, Daughters, Annah R. Harris, Susan R. Mann (Rev. Kendall), Grandchildren, Alice H Brookshire (Brandon), Katelan H. Knight (Jonathan), Lauren E. Mann, Andrew Harris (Hannah), Jacob Mann (Victoria), Lydia M. Moore (Dillan). Great Grandchildren, Charity Grace Wright, Constance Faith Wright, Ragan Hope Brookshire, Kallie P Harris, John Coen Moore, Harper Grace Harris, Kenley Lauren Moore, Addison Vera Mann.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Hillside Memorial Chapel and Gardens, Clarkesville Georgia.
A Celebration of Life will be held where Sam accepted Jesus and his courtship with Joyce began, at Union Baptist Church in Sautee Georgia on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kendall Mann, Rev. Ray Ellis, & Rev. Danny O’Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
