Sallie Lanier

The family of Sallie Lanier, announces the passing, on August 12, 2017 of their beloved daughter, sister, and aunt.  

Sallie was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 6, 1953, while her father, the late Rev. William Chandler Lanier Sr., attended Southern Seminary. She lived in Wadley, Georgia, from 1954 until 1961, when the Lanier family embarked to Israel. Sallie graduated from the American International School in Israel in 1971 and returned to the States for college. She graduated from from the University of Louisville, and settled in Clarkesville, Georgia in 1992, near her parents and sister. She was a member of Grace Calvary Episcopal church. Sallie is survived by her mother, Sallie Cook Lanier, and her siblings Bill, Sarah, and Homer, as well as nephew David Lanier, and nieces: Bethany Lanier, Leigh Ann Lanier Judd, and Anne Marie Lanier Maltbie. 

Sallie, she was a much loved, larger than life figure, with a quick wit, infectious laugh, and empathetic heart.

The funeral service will be held at Grace Calvary Episcopal Church in Clarkesville on Sunday, August 20 at 4:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to: Mercy Fund, Christ Church, Jerusalem, Israel (www.christchurchjerusalem.org) or Grace Calvary Episcopal Church’s benevolence fund.
