In a coordinated effort ahead of approaching weekend storms, Jackson County patrol deputies and the Georgia State Patrol conducted a series of safety checkpoints throughout the county that resulted in multiple charges.

The operation led to 13 arrests on Saturday, May 3, including driving under the influence (DUI), possession of drugs, driving with a suspended license and outstanding warrants. Authorities also issued 21 warning citations for various traffic offenses.

Officials said the checkpoints were part of a proactive strategy to reduce impaired driving and enhance road safety before severe weather conditions moved into the area.
