Royston murder suspect captured in South Carolina

HART COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities have arrested the woman wanted for allegedly shooting and killing another woman in Royston over the weekend. Police took 26-year-old Greata Nichole Thomas, aka Greata Nichole Mobley, into custody late Sunday in Abbeville County, South Carolina.

 

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office announced Thomas’ arrest hours after discovering her abandoned vehicle near Iva, South Carolina.

Thomas was wanted in the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Breiana Danielle Johnson of Royston. The shooting occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, at a residence on Barton Road in Hart County. Johnson was found with a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities had been searching for Thomas since the shooting.

Thomas was considered armed and dangerous, and law enforcement agencies across two states worked together to locate her. Hart County Sheriff Chris Carroll thanked the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Abbeville County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and all other assisting agencies for their support and coordination throughout the case.
