A Royston man is facing child molestation charges after a lengthy investigation by authorities, according to the Royston Police Department.
Shedrick Orlando Smith, of Royston, has been arrested and charged with three counts of rape and three counts of child molestation, the Royston Police Department announced Friday, Feb. 21. The arrest follows a months-long investigation led by Lt. Galen Johnson.
Johnson secured arrest warrants after a thorough investigation revealed probable cause that Smith committed the alleged offenses.
“I am proud of our team here at the Royston Police Department,” Royston Police Chief Brooks Moorhead said. “Through dedication and hard work, we have been able to get a serious offender off the streets. Lt. Johnson, specifically, has worked tirelessly on this case to bring about justice.”
Authorities believe there may be additional victims as Johnson continues the investigation. He urges anyone with information concerning Smith to come forward.
