Roy B. Tench

ROY B. TENCH, age 92, Alto, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 following a short illness at his residence.

Mr. Tench was born on May 28, 1922 in Cornelia, Georgia to the late John Henry Tench, and Mary Jane Whitworth Tench. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nema Luthi Tench; Sisters Laura Tench, Martha Beck, Ada Joyce, Irene Boggs; Brothers George Tench, Leonard Tench, Earnest Tench, Paul Tench, Lester Tench, and Byard Tench. Mr. Tench was a member of Good News Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post #84, The Grant Reeves VFW post #7720 and The Cornelia F & AM Masonic Lodge number 92. Mr. Tench was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country during World War II. He loved to play the fiddle and country music. Mr. Tench also had a love for fishing.

Survivors include Son and Daughter in Law; Jimmy and Becky Tench, Alto, GA; Grandchildren, Sharon and John Thompson, Denise and Sam Castleberry; Great Grandchildren, Chelsea Thompson and Makayla Thompson; Special Friend, Catherine Weaver. Mr. Tench was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday September 20, 2014 at Whitfield Funeral Home South Chapel with Reverend Austin Kelley officiating. Interment to follow in the VFW Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 pm, and 6-8 pm on Friday, September 19, 2014.
