Habersham Central and Dawson County were knocked out of the state high school football playoffs in the second round Friday, Nov. 16. Rabun County and Commerce kept their hopes alive.
CLASS 6A
#3 Habersham Central 48 – #1 Creekview 65
The Raiders (7-5) ended their winning season with a second round loss to #1-seed Creekview. The Raiders trailed throughout but came within striking distance late in the fourth. They were down by 3 when an onside kick led to a Creekview quarterback touchdown. Creekview followed with an interception and touchdown to cap the final at 65-48.
This is the first time in 11 years that Habersham Central has made it to post season play.
CLASS 3A
#2 Dawson County 17 – #1 Monroe Area 49
The Dawson County varsity football team lost Friday’s neutral playoff game against Monroe Area (Monroe, GA) by a score of 49-17. The Tigers end their season with a 10-2 record. Monroe Area remains unbeaten.
CLASS 2A
#1 Rabun County 34 – #2 Chattooga 0
The Wildcats advanced to the quarterfinals by shutting out Chattooga in Summerville, 34-0. The Wildcats, ranked 2nd in the state, are vying for another shot to play at the Benz after missing out on the venue last year due to the weather. They’ll take on Fitzgerald Nov. 23.

CLASS 1A
#9 Commerce 35 – #8 Mitchell County 33
#9 Commerce (10-2) is headed to the quarterfinals after beating Mitchell County in a squeaker, 35-33. The Tigers take on Irwin County in Ocilla on Nov. 23.
