Hall County Sheriff’s Office personnel are investigating a single-vehicle traffic accident that injured seven people on Interstate 985 on Thursday morning, May 2.
Hall County Sheriff’s deputies and Hall County Fire Services units responded to the accident atapproximately 6:46 a.m. in the area of the Plainview Road bridge, south of Exit 16 (GA 53/Mundy Mill Road).
A preliminary investigation by the sheriff’s office determined the southbound vehicle, a 2000Chevrolet Suburban, sustained a tire failure and overturned twice, coming to rest in the southbound lanes of the interstate.
During the accident, two passengers of the SUV, a man and a child, were ejected from the vehicle and suffered injuries. The remaining occupants of the SUV, the adult female driver and four children, also sustained injuries.
Fire Services transported the seven injured parties to hospitals by ground ambulance. Two pediatric patients were taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Egleston Hospital. victims were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
The occupants of the SUV are all from Gainesville and members of the same family.

- Kelvin Langston, 31 – Stable condition
- Male, 7 – Stable condition
- Female, 17 months – Stable condition
- Male, 4 – Released from hospital
- Female, 9 – Released from hospital
- Male, 3 – Released from hospital
The other five victims were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
The accident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Accident InvestigationUnit.
