Robert Lawton Scroggs, age 83, of Nicholson, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 10, 2018, following an extended illness.
Mr. Scroggs was born on September 9, 1935, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Henry and Annie Mae Scroggs. He was also preceded in death by his son, Bobby Scroggs; brother, Johnny Scroggs; and half-brothers, William Wiley and West Turpin. Mr. Scroggs was a United States Army Veteran having proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict and retired with over 20 years of service. After his career, Mr. Scroggs became employed with the W.C. Bradley Company where he worked for over 20 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Mary Scroggs of Nicholson; stepdaughter, Teresa Swing of Carnesville; son, Garry Scroggs of Box Springs; stepsons, Curtis White of Nicholson and Gary White of Carnesville; sister, Kathleen Clark of Commerce; stepsister, Kathy Turpin of Atlanta; stepbrother, Kenneth Wiley of Homer; and grandchildren: Cierra White, Kim Swing, Kelley Spear, Justin Swing, Anita Sieple, and Kalin Scroggs.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Dr. Roy G. Rogers officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Army
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at the funeral home.
