Robert Andrew Eller, 86, of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022.
Mr. Eller was born February 8, 1936, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Arvill J. and Vassie Stroud Eller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, AJ Eller, Jr. and Randolph Lewis Eller; sisters, Margaret Bowen, Doris Auld, and Martha Lee Pruitt.
Mr. Eller retired from the railroad industry with 34 years of service, having started with Southern Railway, which became Norfolk Southern Railway, and then spending his last four years of service with Amtrak as a Conductor. He was a lifetime member of The United Transportation Union Local 1245 of Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Eller was also one of the founding members of The Sons of the Confederate Veteran Camp 716. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Berlin Crisis in Germany. Andrew was also a member of the National DAV and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Eller was a devoted husband and father; he loved his family dearly.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Martha Whitlock Eller, of Demorest; sons, Andy Eller, of Demorest; Joey Eller, of Demorest; brother, William F. Eller and his family of Enterprise, AL; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Georgia National Guard.
