The State Fire Marshal’s Office is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for torching a condemned structure in Lavonia.

The residential structure on Pinehurst Road burned to the ground Friday hours after it was boarded up by order of the Franklin County Magistrate Court.

“Officers from the Franklin County Marshal’s Office boarded up the residential structure due to its dangerous state of disrepair,” says Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John King. “Hours later, the structure was set ablaze in what has been determined to be an intentional fire.”

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered in the case.

Anyone with information should call the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-252-5804.
