Rev. John Avery Mote age 78 of Alto, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017.
Born in Habersham County, Georgia on July 3, 1939, he was a son of the late Odus and Fannie Tomlin Mote. Rev. Mote spent 39 years involved in ministry and was a member of Baldwin Congregational Holiness Church. He was a carpenter, musician, singer, songwriter and enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce Norton, Adeline Williams and Willene Nix; granddaughter, Kayla Mote.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Virginia Crocker Mote of Alto; sons and daughters-in-law, James Mote of Alto, Wesley & Teresa Mote of Homer, Terry Mote of Clarkesville, Wayne & Kristin Mote of Clayton; daughters and sons-in-law, Revonda & Adam Wilson of Clarkesville and Candy & Stanley Lawrence of Baldwin; brother, General Mote of Baldwin; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Baldwin Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Sanford Kimbrell, Rev. Dennis Wade, Rev. Bill Trotter and Rev. Kendall Mann officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery with Rev. Raburne Wilson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
