Rev. Charles Black, age 75 of Demorest, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018.
Born in Hall County, Georgia on January 15, 1943, he was a son of the late Issac and Ramie Turner Black. Rev. Black had attended Cool Springs United Methodist Church and served 33 years in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Clarkesville Masonic Lodge #325 F.&.A.M.. He retired as a teacher after 17 years with both White and Habersham County school systems. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, doing puzzles and most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brothers, LeRoy Black and John Black; brother-in-law, Leonard “Curley” Kuchler.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Diane Taylor Black of Demorest; children, Penny Black of Demorest, Donna O’Tuel (Wesley) of Cleveland, Jerry Black (Amy) of Lawrenceville and Lissa Black of Demorest; grandchildren, Ariel, Denise, Shelbie, Preston and Sam; great grandchildren, Loreley and Owen; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy & Patricia Black of Cleveland; sister Mary Kuchler of Winder; sisters-in-law, Linda Black of Hull and Hannelore Black of Cleveland.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3 pm, Sunday, August 5, 2018 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Doyle Sims and Rev. Steve McIntyre officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the service hour on Sunday at the funeral home.
