Retired Master Gunnery Seargeant, Scott Woodall

Retired Master Gunnery Sergeant, Scott Woodall, age 81 of Demorest, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017, at a private healthcare facility.

Born in Lumpkin County on August 14, 1935, he was a son of the late Carl Woodall and Ruby Chastain Woodall. MSgt Woodall was retired from the United States Marine Corps with 23 ½ years of service to his country. He was involved during the Korean Conflict, served two tours during the Vietnam Era, and was a two time Purple Heart recipient.

MSgt Woodall was also preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Lanell Watkins Woodall; and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving are daughter, Christy Woodall Vice of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Cherral Melodee and Mike Butler of Clarkesville; brother, Larry Woodall of Homer; sisters, Mable Clark of Romeo, MI and Bea Woodall of Galveston, TX; grandchildren, Taylor Vice of Demorest, Melodee Butler of Clarkesville, and Chelsea Blackburn of Clarkesville; great grandchildren, Aaron & Ellie Blackburn.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm Thursday, June 15, 2017, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Kenneth Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in the VFW Memorial Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Wednesday.
