I’m changing something in me. A New Year’s resolution of sorts or maybe a product of a direct request on my part that God would search my heart and reveal to me the parts that need changing.
Change is hard – even when it is for the good.
We all have issues. Issues developed from deep wounds, failures, disappointments, and sorrows that we’ve developed careful defense mechanisms to avoid. When people start poking around in our defense zones – the booby traps go off- the guard dogs awaken – the code orange alert systems sound off. Because we’ve spent years protecting those areas, we know what is best and we don’t want anyone messing around in those areas. Especially not God.
I often pray for clarity. It makes sense. If God gives me clarity then I know which path to take; what to say; what to choose; and what to do. What I’ve forgotten is – where is the trust?
I’m learning what I need to pray is for trust. God is all about the process. He’s teaching us as we go. Clarity comes to us when we first walk the path in trust.
Failure, disappointment, and loss are not necessarily bad things; although, at the time, they appear to be. Sometimes, it is that particular failure which leads us to God’s purpose for us. I’ve learned more from the failures in my life than the successes. Even though we sometimes feel God turned His back on us, He actually knows exactly where He is taking us.
Trust His path for your life. Walk confidently knowing He has you covered and He knows all the details. Your responsibility is staying close to Him through prayer, scripture, and obedience. The rest is up to Him.
