White County firefighters are trying to determine what caused a house south of Cleveland to go up in flames Monday. The fire destroyed the residence at 3389 U.S. 129 South.

White County Fire with mutual aid from Cleveland and Lee Arrendale fire departments responded to the blaze around 6:38 p.m. The first units on scene reported the 3,000 square foot structure was 70% involved.

A 100-gallon propane tank had vented and was burning as well, says White County Public Safety Director David Murphy. “Firefighters set up a defensive attack and remained on scene for approximately six hours,” he says.

No injuries were reported.
