(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Ninth District Congressman Doug Collins reacted to the election of Representative Paul Ryan as the new Speaker of the House on Thursday. In a statement released by his office, Collins says he looks forward to seeing what Ryan will do. “He has promised to return the House to regular order, and I look forward to holding him accountable to that promise,” Collins says.
“As Speaker, Rep. Ryan has committed to a more inclusive process, one that will be open to all Republican ideas. He is a respected colleague, and won the vast majority of votes from the Republican side, including the support of the Georgia delegation. I look forward to working with him, and I know that his experience as Chairman of both the House Budget Committee, and the House Ways and Means Committee, will bring much needed fiscal discipline to the legislative body that controls the purse strings.”
Ryan succeeds retiring House Speaker John Boehner.
