Register for TAP ahead of the storm

With winter bearing down on northeast Georgia now is a good time to register for the Targeted Assistance Program (TAP) in Clarkesville. The program is offered by the Clarkesville Fire Department and is open to all city residents.

TAP offers extra assistance to vulnerable residents in times of disaster and local emergencies. Forms of assistance include wellness checks and family notifications.

TAP is designed for residents who have underlying medical conditions which make them more vulnerable to a state of emergency. Conditions may include severe diabetes, debilitating arthritis, special medical needs children and home oxygen users, just to name a few.

States of emergency that activate TAP include, damaging thunderstorms, tornadoes, floods, fires, severe snow or ice storms, power outages, extreme cold or heat, as well as any other situation that creates a state of emergency as declared by the Mayor.

Registering for TAP is easy. Send an email to [email protected] requesting registration information. You will be guided through a simple process from there. Those without access to email can call (706) 754-2024 to register.

Information provided to the TAP program will be kept confidential and only be accessed by authorized personnel during a state of emergency.
