Well over one thousand people turned out Friday to enjoy Clarkesville’s annual summertime bash, Red, White & Tunes.

The event featured a classic car show on the town square and a rubber duck race on the Soque. There were free water activities and bounce houses set up for kids at Pitts Park. Atlanta-based cover group, Fly Betty Band, performed live on stage at the park and a big fireworks display capped off the evening.

“Friday was absolutely amazing!” says Clarkesville Economic Development Director and event organizer Mary Beth Horton She calls this year’s Red, White & Tunes, “An overwhelming, high-energy success.”

That sentiment was echoed on social media.

Fireworks cap off family-friendly event

The fireworks again proved to be a fan favorite as they lit up the night sky over Habersham’s county seat. Crowds gathered at various locations throughout Clarkesville to view the display including Pitts Park, the downtown gazebo, and Clarkesville Elementary School.

Now Habersham livestreamed the fireworks so people at home could also view them. By early Monday, the video had been viewed over 2,000 times.

Teresa Key-Steele commented on Facebook that the fireworks were “Wonderful!” Another viewer, Annie Laura Dodd wrote, “Now, this was AWESOME!”

“It was great to see so many people – of all ages- simply having a great time,” Horton says. “An added plus was just having that much traffic in our downtown fueling our local economy!  This event has proven very successful for us, and we look forward to continuing it for years to come.”
