Randi Torgesen Hallford

Randi Torgesen Hallford, age 82, of Cornelia, passed away Friday morning, May 5, 2023.

Born March 16, 1941, in Bergen County, New Jersey, she was the eldest daughter of the late Walter Theodore Torgesen and Elizabeth Creel Torgesen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Scott Torgesen and Allan Torgesen, and a stepdaughter, Kathy Clarke.

Randi grew up from 5 years old on a farm in Habersham County, Georgia. In her adult working years, she was employed by UARCO, Inc. (business forms printing) in Toccoa, Tencate, and Chicopee (textiles manufacturing) in Cornelia. In her spare time and in her retirement years, Randi especially enjoyed spending time outdoors, walking the land, tending her vegetable and flower gardens, and cultivating natural plants. Randi was a strong, spiritual Christian woman throughout her life, singing in the church choir, preparing for and teaching Sunday school and leading Bible study for women’s group, and worshiping in services.

Survivors include her loving husband, James Winston Hallford of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Goodney Zapp (Bruce Pinkard) of Cornelia, son and daughter-in-law, Garnett “Gary” Hulsey, Jr. (Grace) of Cornelia; and daughter, Gia Hulsey of Demorest; grandchildren, Jacob, Ivan, Scott, Seth, Cassie, and Elijah; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Alice, and Felicity; sister and brother-in-law, Lela Torgesen Allen Wade (Danny) of Alto; special friends, Syvilla Carson Poole, Louise Tomlin McClellon, Patsy Long Patterson and Gladys McClellon Kinsey; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at New Hope Baptist Church, with Reverend Alvin Burns and Reverend Chris York officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, with Reverend Hobie Wood officiating.

Visitation will be held prior to the funeral between 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at the funeral home.
