It was a golden night at Raider Stadium in Mt. Airy Friday as the Habersham Central Raiders celebrated 50 years of Raider football with a big win over neighboring rival White County.
Up 27-0, the Habersham Central Raiders were forced to sweat out a wild third quarter by the White County Warriors. Habersham held on though, taking it 42-28 behind stellar play by Ryte Woodruff, Joshua Pickett, and Jackson Clouatre.

Prior to the game, the Raiders celebrated the football program’s 50th year with a special on-field presentation that included former team coaches, players, and cheerleaders.
Friday night’s matchup was the 10th all-time between Habersham and White counties. The Raiders have now won three of the last four meetings and 7 of the 10. Habersham moves on to face Franklin County in Week 4, while White County will take on Pickens at home.
